2016년 3월 10일, 유네스코, 국제도서관연맹(IFLA), 세계기록관리협의회(ICA) 등의 디지털 문화유산의 장기 저장을 위한 UNESCO PERSIST 프로젝트의 지침 `The UNESCO / PERSIST Guidelines for the selection of digital heritage for long-term preservation` 이 공개되었다 . 이 지침의 목적은 장기적으로 지속 가능한 보존을 위한 디지털 유산의 선택에 관해 MLA(Museum-Library-Archive) 등의 각 기관이 정책을 입안하기 위한 시작점을 제공하는 데 있다.
