The purposes of the study were to analyze functional elements of woodworking, types of tools for woodworking, human body's problems accompanying by tool's wrong use, and moving types of hands and arms in terms of these analyses. It was tried to map out and draw up the outline of working desk which is appropriate to the physical condition of elementary students. It was carried out through an extensive literature review and interview with specialist who worked at woodworking shop. The major findings and recommendations of the study were as follow : 1) If we classified the process of woodworking by types and techniques of wood processing, it could be divided into plane cutting, face cutting of end pieces, slanted face cutting, the jaws making, drilling, curved surface cutting and joining. Various types of saws, planes and chisels are needed to do this work. 2) In the case of considering a working desk in the human engineering aspects, the most appropriate height of the desk is 72 - 76cm, and the width and the width and length of the upper panel is respectively 108cm and 170cm. And also drawer, vise, and guider of end pieces should be installed for effective woodworking. 3) If some problems happen when a made working desk according to a suggested drawing was applied to elementary students, it should be corrected these problems later in the consideration of students' physical structure. |
