| 초록 | nbsp; nbsp;This paper explores double object constructions in English centering around the asymmetric property of the indirect object movement. The A-movement of the indirect object in double object constructions is allowed, whereas the A'-movement of the indirect object is blocked. The asymmetric property of the indirect object movement is captured from the fact that the indirect object in double object constructions in English is interpreted as topic (i.e., old information). Following Lee (2004), I propose that the indirect object must move out of vP to receive the appropriate interpretation (i.e., topic) clause-internally. The freezing effect of the A'-movement of the indirect object is due to this clause internal topicalization of the indirect object. |
