초록 | OBJECTIVE To evaluate ChromID VRE agar for detecting and identifying vancomycin-resistant Enterococcus(VRE)faecium and E.faecalis isolates.METHODS A total of 60 vancomycin-resistant Enterococcus species isolates were collected from 2003 to 2007 at Chaoyang Hospital.VRE were selected by using WHONET software.The isolates were identified by using MicroScan WalkAway(Dade Behring).These strains were analyzed for genotypic characteristics using the multiplex PCR.Brain heart infusion agar in the presence of vancomycin and ChromID VRE agar(bioMerieux) were compared for detecting vancomycin-resistant Enterococcus isolates.RESULTS Eighteen vancomycin-resistant E.faecalis isolates were identified as vanB genotype by using PCR and sequencing.The vanA gene was confirmed by PCR and sequencing in forty-two vancomycin-resistant E.faecium strains.Compared with PCR,the agreement of screening VRE by ChromID VRE agar and brain heart infusion agar with vancomycin was the same 100%.CONCLUSIONS ChromID VRE agar is able to identify and differentiate vancomycin-resistant E.faecium from E.faecalis.It is important to control nosocomial infections. |
