AFM or SPM is a branch of microscopy that forms images of surfaces using a physical probe that scans the specimen. An image of the surface is obtained by mechanically moving the probe in a raster scan of the specimen line by line and recording the probe-surface interaction as a function of position. AFM은 물질 표면의 형상을 원자 수준의 분해능으로 측정할 수 있는 장비이다. AFM은 탐침을 시료 표면 위 로 근접시켰을 때 시료 표면에 분포하는 원자와 탐침 끝의 원자 사이에 작용하는 매우 작은 힘이 cantilever 라는 스프링에 전달된다. 스프링에 전달된 힘은 스프링을 휘게 하고 이 스프링에 레이저를 입사시켜 반사된 빛을 위치센서(position sensitive photodiode)로 읽어 시료에 대한 표면 정도를 알아낸다. 따라서 AFM은 탐침이 시료 표면을 각각의 위치를 옮겨 다니면서 원자 간의 힘을 측정함으로써 각 점에서 높이에 대한 정확한 정보를 얻는다. |
