특징 Principles of GC/MS in BriefTypically liquid samples are sealed into sample vials and placed in an autosampler.A small volume (usually 1 L) is injected into the GC. The sample components arevaporized in a stream of helium carrier gas and swept through the column. They arephysically separated in the column and emerge at different retention times. Samplepeaks from the GC are introduced into a vacuum chamber where the sample moleculesare ionized using an appropriate ionization mode see Figures 1 and 2. The ionsproduced are accelerated through a mass filter where they are sorted according totheir mass-to-charge ratio. The abundance of ions at each mass over a given mass rangeis measured with a suitable detector. Abundance is plotted against the mass of thefragments to give the mass spectrum. Each compound has a unique spectrum thatserves as a fingerprint for that compound. This is the basis for compound identification. The abundance of ions measured in a spectrum is directly proportional to the amountof compound present. This is the basis of quantitative measurements. |
