The Beckman Optima MAX Table Top Ultracentrifuge is an easy to operate and high speed centrifuge for a variety of applications. Due to its direct drive induction motor with thermoelectronic air-cooling and moisture-purging vacuum system it is considered to be a low maintenance instrument. When placing the rotor in the chamber it is automatically secured to the drive hub through the self-locking rotor attachment which is audible by a click-sound. This system can be used for a variety of applications like pelleting membranes proteins viruses or DNA and also separation of DNA or proteins on density gradients. The shorter length of the tubes and the high speed process cuts the centrifuge time necessary with conventional centrifuges. The system is designed to be imbalance tolerant accommodating differences in tube fillings up to 10% for opposing tubes.
